About Us
The Faculty of Culture and Social Sciences was established to provide education and research on issues related to society and culture with an interdisciplinary perspective in its departments. The programs are prepared jointly by Turkish and German scientists according to international standards in accordance with the Bologna process in a student-centered manner. Care is taken to benefit from Turkish and German experiences in the programs. Prof. Dr. Aysel Uzuntaş is the Acting Dean of the Faculty of Culture and Social Sciences. The partner university of the Faculty is Heidelberg University and the Faculty coordinator is Prof. Dr. Michael Waltisberg.
Students graduating from this faculty are trained with the knowledge, skills and competence that will enable them to address issues and problems from a scientific perspective, to produce solutions to new situations, and to evaluate data and facts. Based on this understanding, the main aim of the programs is to bring young people who are open to self-development, who can recognize national and global issues and problems, who can propose solutions when necessary, who are experts in their field, who are fluent in at least one foreign language, who research, who have developed critical and analytical thinking skills, who have the ability to evaluate independently. The faculty is also a center that contributes to scientific research with original research on society and culture.
The language of instruction at the Faculty is Turkish and German and the duration of education is 4 years. A preparatory class is offered for those who do not speak German or whose German is not sufficient. In addition to Turkish faculty members, there are also German faculty members in each department.
