The overall aim of the Creative Media Lab (YAMEDLAB) project is to ensure university collaboration with the creative industries. In YAMEDLAB, which will be established within the scope of the project justified as a result of the call of Istanbul Development Agency (İSTKA), academia and sector stakeholders will benefit from the physical outputs obtained as a result of research, and the results of this cooperation in the near future will contribute to the brand value of Istanbul in the direction of developing human capital.
Keeping Up with the Digital Age with Six Different Laboratories
Within the scope of the project, a total of six laboratories were included in the section allocated to YAMEDLAB by the Turkish-German University. These are respectively;
Fluid Interfaces Laboratory,
Human and Social Dynamics and Viral Communication Laboratory,
Synthetic Media and Algorithmic News Lab,
Social Machines Laboratory,
Camera Culture Laboratory,
Sustainable Learning Laboratory.
Istanbul's First Digital Media Lab
The audience that the project aims to serve includes students of the Turkish-German University, students of other universities, those working in the creative industry, associations and their members, companies and everyone who benefits from this creative industry.
Within the scope of the YAMEDLAB Project, a total budget of 2,161,020.00 Turkish liras has been allocated to the working team and the total duration of the project covers 18 months. The work started in January 2022, and with the opening launch in May 2022, YAMEDLAB officially opened its doors to the relevant people in its physical environment.
With this project, Istanbul's first Digital Media Laboratory was established and put into operation within our university.
Sustainable Collaboration Between University and Industry
The objectives of the project include the realisation of collaborations with associations and companies from the sector; the establishment of a web portal for the studies carried out and to be carried out by the laboratory and its stakeholders and announcing them through this portal; the incorporation of individual employees (Freelance) after the trainings; the production of a mobile game and an animation film as a result of the collaborations developed in the common area of the Digital Media Laboratory.
