Research Colloquium of the Faculty of Cultural and Social Sciences Held on 26 February 2025
The research colloquium organized by the Faculty of Cultural and Social Sciences took place on February 26, 2025, under the chairmanship of our Vice-Rector and Dean, Prof. Dr. Aysel Uzuntaş, with broad participation from faculty members.
This meeting served as a platform for exchanging ideas on academic studies conducted at our faculty, fostering interdisciplinary collaboration, and identifying current academic needs. In this context, Ayşenur Özkan Işık, a research assistant at our faculty and a PhD candidate in the Department of German Language and Literature at Marmara University, delivered a presentation on her doctoral dissertation. Her research is supervised by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Habib Tekin and focuses on the life and works of Grete Weil from the perspective of memory culture.
In her presentation, Ayşenur Özkan Işık provided an in-depth analysis of memory culture within the framework of memory politics and theoretical approaches. She also gave detailed information about the research phases and methodological approaches of her study. At the end of her presentation, she answered questions from the scholars of our department.
In the continuation of the meeting, our Dean, Prof. Dr. Aysel Uzuntaş, emphasized the importance of developing the research focus of our faculty with an interdisciplinary approach. She underlined the necessity of conducting academic studies from a multidimensional perspective. In this context, the faculty’s research perspectives and strategies were discussed, highlighting that topics such as language, communication, and individual and social behavior are fundamentally significant from both cultural and intercultural perspectives.
The session concluded with evaluations and contributions from faculty members on these topics.
