Faculty of Culture and Social Sciences Research Colloquium Meeting Held

The research colloquium meeting organized by the Faculty of Culture and Social Sciences was held on January 15, 2025 under the presidency of our Vice Rector and Acting Dean of our Faculty Prof. Dr. Aysel Uzuntaş, with the broad participation of our faculty members and staff.
The meeting began with an informative introductory speech by Prof. Dr. Aysel Uzuntaş regarding the concept, content and objectives of the relevant research colloquium. In her speech, Prof. Dr. Aysel Uzuntaş stated that such events not only enable academics within the faculty to share their current scientific studies, but also contribute to the enrichment of different academic perspectives and interdisciplinary interactions and the strengthening of academic cooperation.
According to the concept of the research colloquium, the colloquium provides an opportunity for the exchange of ideas for research projects carried out in the field of Culture and Social Sciences, and enables the consultation and discussion of planned research projects and new research topics. In addition, doctoral etc. With presentations made within the scope of research, young researchers are also encouraged and supported in their scientific studies. Following our Dean, our Faculty's Field Coordinator Doç. Dr. Rainer Schmidt shared his views on the contributions of colloquiums to academic research and interdisciplinary discussions. Doç. Dr. Rainer Schmidt stated that such meetings play a role in increasing academic knowledge accumulation and the faculty's scientific productivity.
In the research colloquium meeting held within this framework, our Faculty's Research Assistant M. Oğuzhan Güner, who is continuing his doctoral studies at the Istanbul University Sociology Department under the supervision of Prof. Dr. İsmail Coşkun, made a presentation on his doctoral thesis. In his presentation, he shared his study, which addressed Germany's migration policies from a historical perspective, with the participants. Res. Asst. M. Oğuzhan Güner, who examines the phenomenon of migration within the framework of different definitions and theoretical approaches, touched on the details of his doctoral thesis and answered questions posed by the faculty members.
At the meeting, it was emphasized that the issue of migration, especially in the context of Turkey and Germany, is among the basic research topics of our faculty and that the phenomenon of migration can be examined from interdisciplinary perspectives such as Sociology, Psychology, Linguistics, Literature, Culture, Media and Communication. The meeting ended with the general evaluation and comments of the faculty members and staff. The research colloquium meeting provided a productive and rich academic sharing environment.
