"Day of Psychology I" at the Turkish-German University

Turkish-German University organized the event "Day of Psychology I" on 14.03.2019. Various German and Turkish academics came together on this day to give speeches on topics about brain and emotions, psychological stress, the role of parents in raising children, and effective learning and remembering.

From Emotions to Depression 
The event organized on 14.03.2019 was opened with the opening speech by the Rector of the Turkish-German University Prof. Dr. Halil Akkanat and the Dean of the Faculty of Culture and Social Sciences Prof. Dr. Aysel Uzuntaş.  After the opening speech, Prof. Dr. Arthur Jacobs from Freie Universität Berlin started with the presentation on "Brain and Emotions". Afterwards, Prof. Dr. Mehmet Eskin from Boğaziçi University gave a presentation on the topic of suicide and psychological stress. This was followed by a presentation by Dr. Nazlı Balkır Neftçi, a lecturer at Işık University, on depression and its effects.

Diversity and Productivity of Psychology 
At the end of the event, Prof. Dr. Arthur Jacobs and Prof. Dr. Aysel Uzuntaş briefly summarized the topics addressed in the presentations with a short appreciation speech. To ensure that all guests understood the presentations, which were held in three different languages, everything was simultaneously translated into German, English and Turkish. The "Day of Psychology I" event gave all participants an impression of the productivity and diversity of the Psychology Program, which will be opened in a short time.
