In the seminar "New Media at a Glance", Prof. Dr. Aykut Arıkan first addressed the importance of interdisciplinary studies in social and communication sciences after presenting the place of the new media concept in a historical framework.
In the rest of the presentation, Prof. Dr. Aykut Arıkan categorized and explained the tools, academic practices and research fields currently used in research regarding new media. Prof. Dr. Aykut Arıkan addressed the concepts of digitalization, social media, digital work, social networks, data journalism, data analysis, and artificial intelligence, and drew attention to the current changes in social sciences and research.
