RTÜK member Deniz Güçer and RTÜK Vice President Deniz Güler also attended the seminar held in the RTÜK Conference Hall.
During the seminar, issues such as the behavior of children and young people in the digital media world, the protection of this behavior, the role of parents in the new media world, and the risks and opportunities for children and young people were discussed in detail. In addition, the effects of traditional and digital media on children and the ways to use these types of media more safely were discussed.
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Devrani emphasized that not only parents are responsible for children's safety in the digital world, but that this responsibility requires the contribution of many stakeholders such as educational institutions, government, content producers and providers. Devrani pointed out that parents' relationship with the media directly affects children and said that children are most exposed to psychological risks in the digital world.
In the presentation titled "Digitalization of the Social Environment and Children", the results of the digital parenting study conducted in Turkey in 2020 were presented. According to the results of the study, 750 out of 1000 children came into contact with technological devices before the age of two, and 585 of them had contact with the internet at an early age. It was also found that 44.6 percent of parents believe that the internet makes parenting easier.
