Under the moderation of PD Dr. Robin Kurilla, PD Dr. Guido Wolf from the University of Duisburg-Essen and conex Institute Bonn delivered a presentation on November 21, 2024, at the Faculty of Cultural and Social Sciences. The topic was "Sustainability as a Principle and Framework for Action: Future Perspectives for the (Working) World. Historical and Conceptual Development Lines in the Sustainability Discourse."
The event, which was also attended by our Vice-Rector and Dean Prof. Dr. Aysel Uzuntaş, emphasized the growing importance of sustainability for businesses after an introduction to the concept of sustainability. Particular attention was given to indices such as the Dow Jones Sustainability Index.
Special focus was placed on EU requirements, including the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive, which regulates reporting obligations and content. PD Dr. Guido Wolf also highlighted the essential role of internal and external stakeholders in assessing sustainability aspects such as environmental, social, and governance factors.
